Net Zero Economy Authority

CONTEXT

Context

In 2024, the Net Zero Economy Authority engaged Horizon to develop an integrated public relations campaign to increase awareness of Australia’s transition to a net zero economy in two priority regions: the Hunter NSW and Central Queensland.

OUR WORK

Our Work

Horizon developed the campaign strategy which took a grassroots community approach, partnering with local businesses, leaders and educators to create messages that were specific to each community. The execution of a co-design program with 30+ stakeholder and community member consultations revealed nuances and insights specific to each region which were used to inform the campaign approach.

Campaign activities included:

  • Development of 50+ bespoke assets including case study videos, vox pops, factsheets, animations and social media posts and tiles.
  • A photo exhibition featuring the people and places powering the energy transition in each region. This included partnering with a local school in the Hunter to set-up a photo competition encouraging student involvement. The winner’s photo was featured in the exhibition.
  • Building of information kiosks which were placed in high-traffic locations and transported to community events.
  • A program of 18+ events and activations including media appearances from the Assistant Minister for Industry and Science, Tim Ayres.

RESULTS

Results

400+ post-event surveys delivered rich insights into local attitudes and highlighted that the campaign helped to inform community understanding of net zero, and stakeholder partnerships were built into valuable relationships that will support future phases of the campaign.
